Dany Khoury
Businessman; waste-management contractor
Formerly sanctioned (delisted)Dany Khoury, described in reporting as close to Christian politician Gebran Bassil, operated a company that in 2016 was awarded a $142 million contract by Lebanon's Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) to run the Bourj Hammoud landfill on Beirut's coast.

The allegations
The US Treasury's October 2021 designation described the award of the Bourj Hammoud contract as tied to alleged corruption in Lebanese state contracting. Separately, Khoury's company faced accusations of dumping waste and untreated refuse into the Mediterranean Sea, harming local fisheries and coastal areas near the landfill.
Khoury was sanctioned alongside businessman Jihad al-Arab, in a joint action the Treasury said targeted corruption connected to Lebanon's political elite.
Current status: delisted
The US Treasury subsequently removed Khoury from its sanctions list, according to reporting by L'Orient Today. OFAC removes names for several reasons, including negotiated compliance commitments, so delisting does not by itself disprove the original allegations. It does, however, change his legal status.
