Marwan Kheireddine
Chairman, Bank Al-Mawarid (AM Bank)
IndictedMarwan Kheireddine chairs Bank Al-Mawarid (also known as AM Bank) and was, for over a decade, part of a family that controlled significant real estate holdings in London, including Aldford House, a Mayfair apartment block bought in 2012 for £86 million.
The indictment and the asset transfer
French prosecutors indicted Kheireddine in 2023 on money-laundering allegations, as part of a broader French investigation into the flow of funds connected to Lebanon's banking crisis and to former central bank governor Riad Salameh.
An investigation by OCCRP's Lebanese partner Daraj found that by July 2023, within months of the indictment, Kheireddine had been removed as a beneficiary of at least 15 offshore entities. Ownership of his family's roughly $200 million UK property portfolio had also been transferred to his brother. Reporters and researchers said the move was consistent with shielding assets from potential seizure during an active investigation.
Kheireddine has not been reported as convicted; the indictment reflects formal charges brought by French prosecutors, which must still be proven in court.
